Claims Supervisor - Casualty

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Plans and supervises work assignments of Claims Representatives
· Directs work assignments, schedules and reviews work-in-progress
· Reviews more complex cases and settles or initiates further action within approved authority levels.
· Serves as technical resource to subordinates and others in the organization.
· Provides information to and seeks information from underwriting, loss control, marketing and actuarial to identify and maintain profitable business
· Maintains appropriate level of Loss Adjustment Expense by reviewing and managing vendor usage.
· Handles errors and complaints and ensures regulatory compliance.
· Personally reviews and adjusts selected claims.
· Provides complete summaries of current work status and work condition to department and division management on a timely basis.
· Participates in file audits.
· Handles assigned litigation files to conclusion; with attendance at trials and/or mediations, as needed.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Five or more years of Casualty Claims experience.
· Demonstrated capability with personal computer and related software.
· Advanced knowledge of insurance is required.
· Able to manage, prioritize, and multi-task projects by applying judgment and knowledge.
· Ability to work in and build a team environment.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work without supervision.
· Have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and still maintain quality work.
· Ability to learn new skills and tasks quickly.
