National Interstate wants you to add your vision and drive to our team! We are currently seeking a Claims Service Representative II in our Medical Claims Unit for our Northeast OH Corporate Headquarters.
The Claims Service Representative II will be responsible for providing file specific assistance to claims handlers within the Medical Unit. Involves setting up new claims files, verifying coverages, and paying medical bills.
Main responsibilities will include:Handling of workers compensation and PIP/Med Pay claimsSet up claim files as instructed by claims handler:Data entry into systemIssuance of letters, notices, forms, submittals etc. Organize and maintain filesCross reference companion claimsVerify coveragesPayment of bills & invoices relating to claimsData entry & maintenance Secure necessary forms Handling and mailing of check & proper documentationSubmit bills to vendor for bill reviewProper claim identification documented on bills prior to submissionAssist with file specific tasks as directed by claims handlers:Initial request for medical records, wages and job descriptionsIssue required jurisdictional formsIssue subrogation notice to third partyEnsure W-9 is on file or requested when bills are sent to bill review vendor Handle mail for Medical UnitLogging all mail received for designated adjusterTake necessary action on mail receivedConduct required system testing as instructed by Supervisor and/or IS DepartmentCopy projects as requested by claims handlerMiscellaneous requests by any claims handler
Qualifications we’re looking for:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Previous related experience.Knowledge of worker’s compensation terminology preferred. Knowledge of medical and/or insurance terminologyStrong customer service skills. Strong written and oral communication skills required.Knowledge of PC, word processing, and spreadsheets. Typing skills of 55-60 wpm
