The individual selected for this position will train to become knowledgeable in resolving damage and injusry claims. SUMMARY: Trains to become knowledgeable in resolving damage and injury claims caused by or incurred by insureds. Learns how to determine coverage; inspect damages; verify and appraise items involved in property losses; negotiate, evaluate, and settle injury claims in both commercial and personal lines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Trains under Claims Representatives to become knowledgeable in their field.
Attends training sessions to acquire the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the functions of a Claims Representative.
Learns to communicate with the public regarding procedures, problems and coverages; investigates, evaluates, and settles claims.
Analyzes claim situations for coverage by contract.
Attends trials, mediations, depositions, and other meetings involving claim resolutions.
Assists in special types of losses such as flood and catastrophic losses.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with 0 to 1 year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. (Initial language – please modify according to info. supplied)
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: (Initial language – please modify according to info. supplied) Ability to apply moderately complex mathematical concepts. Ability to work with mathematical operations related to daily tasks.
REASONING ABILITY: (Initial language – please modify according to info. supplied) Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Must be trained in property damage evaluation, auto appraisal, building construction, and flood and catastrophe adjusting.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS: Must be working toward state certification and licensed as Claims Adjuster. Must pass State Adjuster License within 6 months of hire and have 2 opportunities to pass license exam. Studies are encouraged toward the professional designation of Associate in Claims and/or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter.
