Claims Attorney

Our client is a national Property & Casualty carrier rated A+ by A.M. Best. They write a diverse number of commercial auto risks including for-hire transportation, dump trucks, sand & gravel haulers, limousines, taxis, and charter buses. They presently offer an opportunity to join their claims department as a Claims Attorney. In this role you will provide legal advice and support to claims and underwriting departments in resolution of claims and litigated matters, prepare coverage forms and documents, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, provide customer service internally and externally.

Claims Attorney responsibilities:

Conduct legal research on miscellaneous issues of concern to claims and underwriting departments, and corporate issues.

Provide legal advice on claims, underwriting and corporate issues.

Participate in claim file review and discussion.

Draft policy forms, contracts and related documents to support underwriting and claims departments.

Participate in form filing process.

Participate in verifying reinsurance, ensuring that required notices and proofs are submitted to reinsurer.

Provide coverage advice and analysis, handles coverage aspect of claims as directed.

Participate in ensuring company compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Conduct training for claims staff on legal matters.

Claims Attorney qualifications:Strong preference for a candidate with litigation experience combined with insurance knowledge. Law degree from accredited law school. Minimum 5 years experience in insurance-related legal position. Knowledge of general insurance coverage and legal principles. Superior analytical, communication skills.
