Claim Team Leader Job Description JOB GROUP SUMMARY Fast, accurate claims payment is one of the ways we make a difference in people's lives. Claims professionals work directly with members, doctors and employer groups, providing a friendly and knowledgeable voice at the other end of the phone at times when it's most needed. POSITION SUMMARY - Manages the daily claims operations to ensure business objectives are met and resources appropriately aligned.  - Manages a team of claims staff with 8-15 direct reports. Hires, mentors, coaches, develops, trains, evaluates, compensates and monitors/disciplines staff to provide cost-effective claim management services while ensuring quality standards are met. - Challenges and motivates staff to be responsive to performance expectations in a rapidly changing work environment. - Incorporates unit results into performance evaluations and reward systems. - Develops and participates in presentations to internal and external customers. - Does not carry a customer caseload, but is involved in managing serious customer issues Assesses individual and team performance on a regular basis and provides candid and timely developmental feedback. - Develops training plans and ensures training needs are met. - Establishes a clear vision aligned with company values. - Motivates others to balance customer needs and business success. - Attracts, selects, and retains high caliber, diverse talent able to successfully achieve or exceed business goals. - Builds a cohesive team that works well together. - Has responsibility for claim financial results by promoting competent claim and risk management of multi-million dollar book of business Required Skills: REQUIRED SKILLS - Address individual performance gaps against expected results throughout the performance period - Coach employees to maximize performance - Engaging and Developing People - Identify critical performance behaviors that will drive individual results expected - Disability and/or Leave claim administration experience preferredDESIRED SKILLS - Analyze the expense aspects of key business strategies - Manage and report on budget variances - Analyze data to determine gaps in Aetna process when compared to best practice Creating Accountability - Manage staff resource peaks and valleys throughout the business cycle - Working Across Boundaries - Supervisory experience preferred - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience preferred - Highly organized and able to quickly prioritize multiple assignments with high quality results. - Ability to handle diverse assignments and juggle multiple priorities with ease. - Problem solving skills. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Exceptional communications skills including ability to interact with a variety of external and internal audiences. - Negotiation skills. - Business knowledge including disability/leave and Aetna culture (i.e., how to get things done within the company).ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION We are hiring for two supervisory positions: One will supervise a team which administers standalone LOA claims and the other will supervise a team which administers both STD and LOA claims.
