Job Duties:

The employee in this role mainly performs desk reviews and some audits of Medicare cost reports with supervision.

- Has a basic understanding of reimbursement methodologies, cost report flow, and audit expectations/programs in order to test the provider’s compliance with applicable Medicare Laws, regulations, manual instructions and directives. Learn the flow of technical literature (CMS Pub 15-1) to research an issue.
- Performs desk reviews, audits and final settlements with substantial assistance. Prepares and maintains working papers, the form and content of which are designed to meet the circumstances of the particular audit. The information contained in the working papers constitutes the principal record of the work performed and the conclusions reached; has good grasp of GAAP. Completes assigned work within reasonable time; ask for additional assignments when he/she complete work. Completes working papers neatly and legibly; seek guidance from supervisors and co-workers.
- Meets all Government Auditing Standards (GAS) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountant (AICPA) statements on auditing standards.
- Recognizes his/her own data needs in advance by prior review and request to provider for information.
- Communicates with the supervisor and the provider throughout audit engagement
- Develops tactful style that generates few complaints from provider staff. Identify and completes required work; takes responsibility for self-development.
- Enthusiastic about increasing own learning, wants to produce timely, quality audit work.

Performs other duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.

Job Requirements:

College degree or equivalent education, training or related work experience. (1 or more years directly related work experience)
-Minimum of 80 hours of continuing professional education every two years.
