CLAIMS SPECIALIST - PROPERTY SUBROGATION DIVISION

CNA is currently recruiting for a claims professional to join our subrogation team in our Duluth, Georgia office.  We seek an adjuster with strong general liability skills who will have the ability to identify opportunities and implement subrogation for CNA on property losses. Job SummaryUnder technical direction, pursues recovery activity associated with any property and or casualty claims, workers compensation claims, and or other such claims referred to the central recovery department. Works within specific limits of authority on assignments requiring moderate to advanced technical complexity and coordination. Utilizing recovery guidelines and policies, reviews recovery referral files to ensure proper documentation received, determines if recovery will be pursued, negotiates and settles recovery files.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerforms a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:Interprets more complex or unusual recovery occurrences and determines if pursuit of recovery is viable for referrals submitted to the central recovery departmentCoordinates and partners with claims staff to ensure complete investigation to support recovery pursuit or closure. Ensures best business outcome for CNA in cases of competing interests to recovery. Utilizes negotiation skills to develop and complete complex recovery settlement packages.May work with attorneys, account representatives, agents, risk managers, insured representatives, and other CNA employees regarding the handling and or disposition of recovery opportunitiesAnalyzes recovery activities and prepares reports for management.May provide assistance and guidance to other claims staff and functional areas.Maintains current advanced knowledge of state/national trends in recovery and subrogation. Maintains advanced knowledge of negligence doctrines, types of liability, and limitations, if any, of recoverable damages for various jurisdictionsMaintain regular work product note entries in files referred to the central recovery department documenting actions pursuing recovery in accordance with recovery guidelines.1.       Maintains a pending file count in accordance with Recovery Department guidelines. Reporting RelationshipManager and/or Director Skills, Knowledge & AbilitiesSolid knowledge of claims and insurance theory and practices.Demonstrated technical expertise, product specific knowledge, and negotiation skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA’s internal and external business partners.Ability to work independentlyStrong analytical and problem solving skills.The ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business related software. Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferredMinimum 3-5 years claims or subrogation experience.
