It's a smart move.A CAT Modeling Technical Systems Analyst for the Corporate Catastrophe Management group will provide modeling assistance and technical support as needed by Corporate Cat Mgmt, Risk Office, Reinsurance, Actuarial and the various Businesses. They will become an expert in the catastrophe modeling technology utilized by the company, and will develop new reports, analytic tools and database files needed to facilitate detailed analyses of modeled exposure and loss information. They will perform modeling system updates, and produce and maintain summary and detailed information for quarterly simulations, financial reports, regulatory and rating agency reporting, and ad-hoc requests. Responsibilities:Researching, developing and managing policy and location data related to an environment for use in software models of natural hazards, making use of Excel, Access, SQL Server, relational database architecture and techniques, and relevant geographic (GIS) technologiesDesigning relational models and developing SQL/VBA scripts for data transfer across Excel and Access, in order to resolve data/process requirementsDeveloping and assisting with establishing and communicating data standards, measures and conventions, and auditing data quality and capture processesAssisting in developing, delivering and administrating catastrophe-related Underwriting tools Database programming/development in support of analytical studies and presentations to support projects as directed by managers within FFIC and the Allianz groups, including reinsurance renewals, strategic planning and organizational/systems integration Providing modeling support for development of regional loss targets, across business segments and geographical locations, needed for planningProviding quarterly monitoring and reporting of exposure accumulations, modeled loss results and performance against plan metricsDeveloping documentation and presentations to support various business casesProviding support for assessing and reporting on potential impacts of model updates and calibrationsWorking directly with vendors on enhancements, or the development of new technologies and techniques with value-added potentialFurther developing the FFIC Center of Knowledge and Expertise for modeling technology, documenting established processes and procedures, and providing expert interpretation of modeled results as requiredRequirements:Experience with database management systems (MS Access, MS SQL Server, etc.), their management and designStrong knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SQL and VBA requiredFamiliarity with catastrophe modeling concepts, perils, and metrics. Exposure to catastrophe vendor models (RMS, AIR, EQE) or predictive modeling a plus.
