BACKUP & ARCHIVE ADMINISTRATOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Master Server Policy Administration for three Master Servers

2. VMWare, SQL, and Oracle DB backup for over 1500 hosts

3. Data Domain Administration for 800 TB of disk-based backups

4. SQL and Oracle restore

5. Centera allocation and monitoring for six archive devices

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Five or more years experience with Symantec NBU running on Sun Solaris and tape management. Familiar with NDMP backups for NAS.Experience with disk-based backups.Monitors system performance across three Master Servers and twenty Media Servers. Participate in configuration planning including NBU policies and Data Domain file structure and replication. Performs more complex maintenance activities to ensure system performance. Assists in integrating new programs/designs into production. Provides on-call support to the IT organization during system implementation or configuration. Assists in areas of disaster recovery, technical walkthrough, and documentation and standards. Performs problem diagnosis and resolution, determining root cause and actions to be taken. Designs, develops and/or customizes systems and components to achieve specific objectives within a project. Maintains standards and procedures for the backup and archive environments. Oversight of contractor pool for daily monitoring and maintenance tasks. Oversight of vendor contractors for OS and firmware upgrades. Train DB and Server Admins on how to do their own restores.Administration of NBU 6.X including SQL and Oracle RMAN DB backup and restoreEMC Centera experience a big plusA BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or 4 additional years of relevant experience is required.8+ years analysis, design, and development experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in two or more of the follow technology areas: network, database, Microcomputers, client server, internet, programming methods, intranet, UNIX and/or MainframeRequires ability to plan, organize and achieve coordinated objectives.Excellent time management skills are required.Demonstrated ability to adjust focus to meet changing priorities and shifting customer needsAbility to manage internal and external relationships.Ability to influence vendors on product/service direction and resolve routine business issues.Accountable for ensuring effective utilization of available resources and creating a cooperative, team atmosphere in small groups.Envisions future requirements and integrates them into the development of deliverables.Good interpersonal skillsGood command of spoken and written EnglishHelps set development standards and evaluates specific products.Able to commit I.T. to expenditures within the bounds of an approved project and with appropriate review/approval in carrying out a broad range of dutiesMakes decisions and influences I.T. management regarding systems issues affecting activities and objectives of I.T. and business functions.Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on I.T. as well as the project's business users.
