Associate Broker

General Summary

In conjunction with and under the supervision of the broker, solicits business from retail insurance producers and brokers, handles their existing or assigned book of business, places insurance with markets and services clients.  The employee also may execute technical support tasks.

 

Essential Functions

· Performs any combination of tasks related to the quoting, binding and servicing of new and renewal accounts including rating, responding to producer and company inquiries, binder and invoice preparation and policy and endorsement set- up and cancellation.

· Analyzes accounts and prepares submissions, determines which markets are best suited to accounts, negotiates with client and underwriters to secure the best terms, and completes the transaction by obtaining mutual agreement of client and underwriter.

· Establishes and maintains business relationships with principles and key production and/ or marketing personnel in agencies and with underwriters in key insurance companies.

· Assists in the development of new products by keeping management aware of the client's needs.

· When appropriate, works closely with account coordinator(s) in the setup, marketing, booking, and maintenance of business.

· Assists broker in tracing payment and collection of premiums.

· Trains new employees.

· Monitors work flow (quality and quantity) of the team to make sure it is efficient and consistent with company standards.

· Fills in for the broker when the broker is away from the office.

· Tracks claims when appropriate.
