EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries is desired
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries is desired
- Member of the American Academy of Actuaries is desired

FUNCTIONAL WORK EXPERIENCES
- Actuarial: Product development
- Actuarial: Pricing: manual rate structure development

REQUIRED SKILLS

- Assess risk and make sound decisions based on established criteria

POSITION SUMMARY
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing risk and enhancing profitability for Group Life business through pricing, product development, financial analysis & forecasting, and evaluation of underwriting guidelines
- Manage 1-2 actuarial students and potentially actuarial interns or co-ops
- Provide underwriting support, including analysis of complex risks and tailored pricing for large cases
- Lead financial and actuarial support for special projects, including the annual service pricing review for Life products
- Analyze historical claim experience and business metrics and project future results via planning and forecasting process
- Coordinate and manage reinsurance monthly/quarterly reporting process and help shape strategy for utilization of reinsurance to mitigate risk
- Work collaboratively with internal and external customers including underwriting, finance, claims, product development, sales, legal, and reinsurers

Skill and Experience Requirements:
- BA, BS in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science or related field
- Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries preferred
- Prior Individual or Group Life experience would be helpful, but is not required
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of constituents at various levels of the organization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear and concise expression of ideas
- Demonstrated ability to set direction, lead others to solutions, and complete tasks
- Strong problem solving skills and critical thinking
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other areas of the organization
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Strong personal computer skills are required (including strong proficiency in Excel; proficiency in Access is a plus)
- Ability to effectively manage multiple, concurrent deliverables
