ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

In this role you’ll play an important part by assisting in making important operations decisions.  You’ll get to help design, price, and monitor long term care insurance plans.  Our actuaries assemble and analyze data to estimate probabilities of an event taking place, such as death, loss of ability to perform activities of daily living, or a nursing home confinement.  They also ensure that the price, or premium, charged for such insurance will enable the company to cover claims and other expenses.  This premium must be profitable and yet competitive with other insurance companies.  They also may help companies develop plans to enter the long term care insurance business.  In addition, actuaries ensure that the plans are maintained on a sound financial basis.

Requirements:

1.  Use analytical and communication skills to help clients with the design, financing and evaluation of Long Term Care insurance plans.

2.  Analyze policy and claim experience of administrative clients by routinely comparing pricing expectations and assumptions to determine whether expected profits will materialize.

3.  Enhance in-house pricing capabilities.

4.  Assist administrative clients with financial reporting and reserve estimates.

5.  If pursuing ASA or FSA, prepare for actuarial exams.

6.  Other duties and projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or StatisticsMinimum of 2 years of work experience in life or health actuarial workExperience with Long Term Care Insurance is preferredSuccessful completion of 2-4 Society of Actuaries exams, preferredStrong background in mathematics and general business requiredWorking knowledge of mathematics, including calculus, probability, and statisticsExcellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skillsStrong multi-tasking and project management skillsStrong technical background and expertise in using Microsoft Excel, Access and standard statistical analysis softwareKnowledge of computer programming languages (Visual Basic) desiredMust be a team player but also work independentlyStrong written and verbal communication skills
