We have an excellent underwriting opportunity available.  As an Underwriter you will work to manage assigned accounts, select profitable risks and build a profitable portfolio of accounts.  Responsibilities:Work with assigned distribution channel to appropriately select risks, evaluate and recommend program structure, services and pricing to achieve a balanced portfolio and long-term profitability. Individual account responsibility extends to premium of up to $1.5 to $5 millionVisit policyholders and producers in order to retain existing accounts, maintain business relationships and develop new opportunities in support of the producer and territory management plan. Review engineering information to assess risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and initiates appropriate loss prevention actions. Evaluate reinsurance requirements and implement appropriate action. Communicate and collaborate across disciplines to establish and maintain relationships to achieve organizational and policyholder success. Actively continue to improve personal knowledge and practices of the insurance industry through work experience, in-house instruction, insurance specific designations (e.g. CPCU), industry courses, home office seminars and workshops, etc.

Qualifications:Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred, continuing insurance education desired Success driven individual who has demonstrated 3-10 years of success in a commercial underwriting role Ability to analyze variables, such as type & amount of coverage, loss control, credit reports, and loss experience Thorough knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, contracts & underwriting guidelines Ability to interact successfully with customers to build & maintain good business relationships. Negotiation and pricing skills Hard work, honesty, integrity and unwavering business ethics
