ACCOUNTING CONSULTANT
Job SummaryRepresents a high level of individual technical accounting contribution. Usually regarded as an expert in an area, and provides accounting guidance for accounting supervisors, managers, and directors. Areas of expertise may include, but not be limited to, statutory accounting, GAAP accounting, regulatory agencies (e.g., SEC, SVO, NAIC), accounting systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Maximis, PES), etc.Essential Duties & Responsibilities1. Provides leadership as a technical advisor.2. Provides accounting analysis, interpretation and advice to management.3. Participates in determining the proper accounting treatment of complex or unusual transactions.4. Consults with management team in the development and execution of strategic and operational plans and budgets based on departmental and corporate goals and objectives.5. Researches trends and developments in accounting and the insurance industry.May perform additional duties as assigned. Reporting RelationshipManager or aboveSkills, Knowledge & Abilities 1. Thorough level knowledge of complex accounting principles, practices and procedures as well as GAAP and other statutory accounting procedures.2. Detail oriented with strong organizational and presentation skills.3. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with personnel at all levels.4. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.5. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.6. Effective verbal and written communication skills.7. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems.Education & Experience1. Bachelor's Degree, preferably in accounting or finance, CPA desirable.2. Five to eight years of related work experience in accounting.
