Sr. Tech Analyst, Ops & Infra (Unix Admin)

Overview:
Provides support of application data, development tools, data collection, languages or operating systems unique to business units (BU) in order to meet BU internal and external user requirements.

Responsibilities/Relationships:
- Liaison on tools, applications
- Performs research, analysis, design, and implementation of technical solutions to meet current and future user requirements.
- May have development and quality control responsibilities for application technical design and implementation, client operations design, telecommunications design, database design, and system conversion.
- Has project responsibilities in all or some of the following areas: project planning, work plan development and staffing.
- Provide technical assistance on projects throughout the environment.
- Performs the help line assistance function, as required, establishing urgency of the problem and owning the problem through resolution keeping the client informed of progress.
- Coaches and mentors junior staff. Provide technical assistance and work direction to aid other employees.


Position Requirements:

Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree, with a technology or business emphasis, or equivalent education/experience.
- 5 years

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Supporting testing environments, build/configure servers, maintain existing systems including OS and firmware
- Provide technical support of distributed environments within Production Assurance
- Maintain scripts and automate tasks using Pearl and shell scripts
- Track server inventory, manage hardware lifecycle and ensure consistency with production standards
- Setup environments for new projects
- Provide Network and SAN troubleshooting from the Unix Platform
- Understanding of manual and automated testing in application development environments
- Ability to obtain requirements for build out new environments and oversee those environments throughout the system design lifecycle
- Strong Unix systems administration skills supporting 24 x 7 servers in large data center environments required
- Experience supporting and configuring switched networking from the host outward
- Ability to identify problems with systems, applications, and networks in complex data center environments
- Coordinate and facilitate activities with vendors, external support teams. Customers for Unix servers
- Strong knowledge of Unix (Solaris) and Linux operating systems, Ability to perform installations, upgrades, and patch updates
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and host configurations
- Experience in clustering technologies including Veritas and SUN Cluster Server
- Knowledge of Raid, DiskSuite, Volume Manager, DNS, NFS, FTP, SSH. Shell Programming, NetBackup and HP OVO (Formerly ITO)
- Knowledge of relational databases
- Experience with J2EE and middleware in general a plus
- Experience with networking, loadbalancers, DNS, and TCP/IP a plus
- Experience with EMC, DMX, Clariion a plus
- Experience with Oracle a plus
- Experience with Tivoli a plus
