Job Description The Senior Account Executive (SAE) should possess a minimum of 4 years experience in sales. The SAE will represent a portfolio of 10+ Marriott, Renaissance and JW Marriott hotels within the Caribbean and Mexico market. West Coast based, the SAE will be responsible for proactively surfacing group business opportunities from corporate, group intermediary and associations’ located in the U.S. states consisting of: California, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington, Montana, Canada, Alaska. This position will be based remotely from a home office.The Senior Account Executive role is a territory based proactive sales role focused on securing group segment business from corporate, group intermediary and associations for 10+ hotels. The candidate should possess strong internal and external customer relationship building skills. Managing and building a relationship with hotel stakeholders and external customers are equally important. The candidate must possess excellent selling, negotiation/closure skills, knowledge of group segment, knowledge of contractual agreements and knowledge of peak/need time strategies as developed by Revenue Management. They should understand account and opportunity (lead) profitability, have strong communication skills (verbal, listening, written) and the ability to use persuasive communication to influence others. The SAE is managed with little supervision, so strong organization skills, competitive drive, goal orientation, effective decision making/problem solving and conflict management skills are all important. General knowledge of hotel operations is helpful. The ability to use standard computer/laptop software and hotel systems including SFA, NGS, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint are part of the technical skills required. Expected Business Results: Sales and Marketing: • Focuses on building each unit’s top line revenue by executing against the group sales strategy. Identifies and aggressively solicits new accounts. Grows existing accounts to maximize revenue potential. Achieves individual goals. • Conducts targeted account research to determine potential. • Solicits and qualifies new accounts whose business opportunities meet MHRS, RHRS and JW criteria. • Proactively identifies, qualifies and solicits new group business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals while maintaining brand integrity. • Maintains and grows business of existing accounts. • Identifies and develops new markets. • Proactive Sales – Saturates and penetrates assigned accounts for group, extended stay, catering and transient business. Maintains current business relationships and networks for new business within accounts. • Understands competitor’s strengths and weaknesses and effectively sells against them. • Works collaboratively with on and off – property sales channels (e.g., Event Booking Center, Market Sales, Global Sales Organization/Enterprise Sales Team) to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative. • Effectively develops and strengthens relationships with new and existing customers to expand group sales opportunities. Examples of activities include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc. • Proactively manages relationships with multiple contacts in assigned market accounts. • Effectively manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. • Effectively utilizes sales resources and administrative/support staff. • Hotel Communication – Coordinates with hotels for site inspections. Updates hotels on the status of their accounts and pending business and ensures follow-through and property “buy in” on customers service needs. • Develops correspondence, manages opportunity details and proactively develops customer solutions. • Maintains accurate and up to date account data and reporting using account management system. Guest Satisfaction: • Ensures sales information provided to the properties is accurate, complete and timely and enables units to meet or exceed guest expectations. Continuously focuses on improving guest satisfaction to create customer loyalty and increase market share. • Displays leadership in guest hospitality; exemplifies customer service and creates a positive example for guest relations. • Establishes clear expectations for customers and properties throughout the sales process. • Transfers accurate, complete and timely information to operating departments at the properties. • Effectively resolves guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process. Brings issues to the attention of property leadership team as appropriate. • Participates in guest satisfaction review sessions to identify areas of improvement. Takes ownership of results and shares recommendations to address guest service issues.
