Job Description The role of the Manager, Intermediary Partner Programs & Services is to support the Sales & Marketing vision and mission through specific activities designed to enhance Marriott’s competitive advantage within the Sales & Marketing account portfolio. In a Sales & Marketing office function, the position is expected to perform activities designed to enhance the day-to-day business flow between Marriott International and its intermediary partners. In a staff function, this position manages projects and/or activities relative to creating both unique and repeatable solutions and services for use by Sales & Marketing professionals as well as Marriott’s intermediary partners. As a functional area specialist, the position serves as the primary support for Sales & Marketing matters related to Meetings Excellence!, Plan-Tastic, and the Group Intermediary website areas. Meetings Excellence! Training Program Expectations: - Manage the Meetings Excellence (ME)! training program in an online interactive format. Responsible for coordinating content development, translations in 8 non-English languages, additions to the training curriculum, as well as manage possible new group intermediary training. Coordinate vendor and consultant activities to ensure a smooth and efficient transition. Responds to and makes decisions on complex business requests as related to the ME! Program. - Manage, identify and implement enhancements to the ME! secure internet database – allowing for increased customer service response time and accuracy. - Establish and manage relationships with outside vendors for ME!, to include cost negotiation, performance management, limited “partnerships” and accurate & timely product deliverables. Serves as point-of-contact for outside vendors in regards to issue resolution and process enhancements. - Lead the annual development and execution of the Plan-Tastic program, which provides graduates of Meetings Excellence! access to discounted familiarization rates. Includes solicitation of over 3,000 hotels for program participation, coordination of program material, distribution to meeting professionals globally, and customer service excellence. Coordinate with Revenue Management Leaders to set price-point and ensure the greatest rate availability and with Hotel Operations to ensure front desk procedures are in place and followed. Manage fulfillment. Recommend on-going efficiencies and process improvements for the program. - Administer an electronic newsletter for graduates of the Meetings Excellence! program. Responsibilities include content management and distribution to Marriott Meeting Professionals (ME! graduates) worldwide in HTML format. Requires working with individual hotels, clusters, or regions to assess objective and provide recommendation on best content inclusion. Responsible for managing the “look and feel”, functionality and reporting. - Promote educational aspects of ME! program both internally and externally to effectively increase the number of graduates globally. - Responsible for Global operational effectiveness of ME! program, to include coordination with non-US GSO support personnel and vendors in other countries. Budget Management: - Manage Meetings Excellence!, Plan-Tastic and Group Intermediary budgets, including accurate reporting and account tracking, period-end critiques, and ongoing reconciliation of A&L and operating statements as needed. - Assist in supervising Senior Program Specialist on budget related processes and deliverables. Website Management: - Oversee marriott.com/grouppartners, meetings-excellence.marriott.com and MGS websites, to include publication of site content, maintenance, and coordination with e-Commerce and outside vendors on new enhancements to ensure successful implementation. - Develop and implement processes for hotels, regions and above-property sales leaders to request posting of relevant group intermediary content (need dates, promotions, new openings, renovations, etc.) on the group intermediary website. Ensure content is timely, accurate, and updated. Promotional Campaigns: - Design & develop meeting professional educational and promotional campaigns. Manage budget, create and edit creative content, and work with various internal departments and external vendors from implementation to execution. Provide updates to internal stakeholders. Subject Matter Expertise - Serve as a subject matter expert to field associates on intermediary marketing opportunities available to them through various programs and intermediary channels. Present the intermediary marketing opportunities at Owner Franchise Services RAMP meetings (monthly), Sales and Marketing Resource School and other training. - Support the implementation and roll-out of Intermediary Partner Support products by providing technical, database, and operational support and expertise. - Accountable for identifying opportunities for program improvements and enhancing effectiveness of the delivery and maintenance of all programs to drive preference to Marriott from group partners around the world. - Responsible for representing Intermediary Partner Support as necessary both internally and externally. - Utilization of Microsoft Access database functionality for program data analysis. Experience - Strategic and organizational skills.- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. - Strong marketing and/or business experience in lodging or related industries. Experience with eMarketing a plus. - Understanding of the intermediary channel, specifically group intermediary partners. - Working knowledge of hotel operations including Sales, Reservations, Front Office, and Accounting. - Understanding of Revenue Management strategies and principles. - Working knowledge of customer buying channels, specifically: voice, GDS, wholesaler/receptives, Internet. - Knowledge of Marriott corporate culture, resources, and organizational structure. - Complete knowledge of Sales & Marketing mission, functions, and organizational structure, and ability to be a resource to others in these areas. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills required, as contact with internal and external customers, vendors, and intermediaries on multiple organizational levels is necessary. - Strong presentation skills. - Ability to understand business needs and technology to assess and define applications requirements. - Knowledge of Marriott accounting policies and process, and budget management experience. - Knowledge of electronic communication vehicles. - Systems knowledge requirements: Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Access, and an understanding of MARSHA, CTAC, and OSCAR. - Innovative self-starter who can function in a time-constrained environment with minimal supervision. - High degree of initiative, personal responsibility, and ownership. - Ability to practice discretion and diplomacy. - Ability to be culturally sensitive working in diverse global organization. - Customer service experience. - Must be a team player.
