Play a key role in our future success: Job DescriptionDIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETINGThe Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Tuskegee University in Alabama is a 108-room conference center property with 17,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.  We are seeking a leader in the industry to take this product to the next level.  This leader must understand how to sell a meeting environment and not just guest rooms. A positive, motivating and creative leader is crucial to help train the sales management team and hold that team accountable to standards while maximizing occupancy in the meeting space and guest rooms and total revenue. Strong relationship building skills are key. A good understanding of rooms to space ratio is a plus.   Recipe to Succeed: Must effectively plan and communicate to all departments the expressed need of the customer. Maintain a tracking system for all potential customers. Ensure that all appropriate communication for upcoming business is complete and distributed in a timely manner to the management team. Organize sales and marketing efforts to ensure that the maximum exposure is purchased for the monies that are spent. Excellent leadership skills. Oversee and conduct sales calls, prospecting and meet all quotas to ensure that the quarterly and annual goals are met. Complete knowledge of the Property Management System. Engage in educational and team building activities to strengthen personal value and departmental relationships. Necessary Ingredients: BS degree and a minimum of 7 years hotel experience. Have a least 3 years progressive sales management experience. Previous hotel DOS or Sr. Sales Manager preferred. Proven track record. Superior quantitative, oral and written communications and problem-solving/strategizing skills. Excellent overall computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint. Proactive mindset to anticipate and support changes in our business. Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior.
