Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse

Mills-Peninsula Health Services, a not-for-profit corporation, operates two community health facilities with a total of 403 inpatient beds. Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame is an acute care hospital. Mills Health Center in San Mateo provides a wide range of outpatient services, including surgery, rehabilitation and diagnostics.Mills-Peninsula Health Services has deep roots in San Mateo County. Mills Hospital opened in 1907 and Peninsula Hospital opened its doors four miles north in Burlingame in 1954. The two merged in 1985 and affiliated with Sutter Health in 1996, becoming Mills-Peninsula Health Services. Mills-Peninsula is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.The incumbant provides clinical expertise in a specialty area. Leads and directs the diagnosis-based teams in the care and service of select patient populations across the health care continuum.  Promotes effective and appropriate utilization of clinical, ancillary and material resources. Assumes a leadership role with the interdisciplinary team to define and achieve optimal clinical and resource outcomes. Assures patients in assigned populations/diagnostic groups receive care that consistently follows evidence-based standards and is in accordance with organizational goals including: core measure, disease-specific care measures, and regulatory standards as defined by the program.   The essential functions include leadership, clinical expertise, consultation, education, and research for a defined population and require constant collaboration with the medical staff, nursing staff and medical center leadership in planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of the clinical management program.   1. Current California RN license and BLS (AHA) certification 2.  WOCN certificate or comparable experience preferred 3. California Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner certification preferred.  4. Master's degree in Nursing with a specialty in a clinical area and National certification through ANCC or via national credentialing association as appropriate to specialty, is preferred. 5. Minimum of 3-5 years of recent clinical experience in an acute care setting. 6. Knowledge of utilization review, discharge planning/case management, clinical pathways, managed care and "Best Practice Guidelines" preferred.  7. Experience in developing educational programs related to health promotion, health maintenance, and disease prevention and possesses knowledge of adult education/ teaching principles.  8. Project management skills
