Weekend Nurse Supervisor

The Veranda Preston Hollow, a Dallas-area long-term nursing facility is looking for a Weekend Nursing Supervisor.  The hours for this position are 7am - 10pm Saturday and Sunday.Job Responsibilities include:

(1)  Assist in implementing orientation programs and job skills training; maintain professional competence.

(2)   Monitor environment and care practices of nursing personnel to ensure compliance with established safety, fire and disaster, infection control and all other department policies and procedures are followed; and to ensure cleanliness and safety of treatment areas.

(3)    Supervise, conduct and participate in department and facility education activities.

(4)    Work with the Director of Nursing and the Nurse Managers to establish priorities and job assignments.  Monitor department activities, communicate policies, evaluate performance, provide feedback and assist, coach, redirect, and discipline as needed.

(5)    Ensure equipment and work areas are clean, safe, and orderly, and many hazardous conditions are addressed; ensure Universal precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures are followed.

(6)    Conduct regular rounds to monitor resident activity, assess resident’s physical and psychological status, and to monitor care activities to ensure the delivery of nursing care according to the physicians orders, care plans, and established standards and facility policies; ensure medication administration is as ordered in accordance with nursing standards and facility policies; manage admissions, transfers, and discharge of residents.  Communicate with Residents, family members and management regarding resident status.  Personally participate in the assessment and delivery of care when needed .

(7)    Ensure understanding of and compliance with all rules regarding residents’ rights.

(8)   Develop positive relationships on behalf of the Facility with Residents,

Families and the Community at largeQualifications:

  Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the state. Completion of post secondary education or otherwise able to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other associates. Must be capable of performing the Essential Job Functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
