Carolina Donor Services is the federally designated organ procurement organization serving 6.1 million people in 79 counties of North Carolina and Danville, Virginia. Our service area includes 102 hospitals, and four transplant centers that perform heart, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas transplants.

Our team of dedicated professionals work diligently to increase the awareness of the need for organ and tissue donors and to deliver the most sensitive approach to organ and tissue donation. We perform public and professional education, as well as coordinate the entire organ and tissue donation process.

Carolina Donor Services has three main offices - Durham/Chapel Hill - Greenville and Winston-Salem.

 

We are seeking a Vice President/COO for our Durham, NC office.

 



Job Title:  Vice President of Operations/Chief Operating Officer

 

The Vice President of Operations/COO is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Organ Services, Tissue Services and Communications/Marketing Divisions.  This includes designing, implementing and evaluating activities relating to these divisions and the organization’s mission and managing quality assessment systems related to these divisions.  The Vice President of Operations/COO is responsible for assuring a comprehensive training program for staff level clinical positions and orientation for all new hires as well as continually monitoring staff training needs.  The Vice President/COO will work collaboratively with appropriate directors to assure all new employees undergo appropriate orientation and all clinical staff members continuously undergo appropriate training.

 

Education: College degree (B.S. or B.A. required) with at least five years experience in either an Organ Procurement Organization, Transplant Center, Intensive Care Unit or related healthcare experience required.

 

Skills and Qualifications:  Thorough knowledge of industry regulations and standards (UNOS, HCFA, AOPO) and their application to the clinical processes at Carolina Donor Services; knowledge of organ and tissue recovery, perfusion, clinical data management and hospital development processes; strong leadership ability to effectively and independently plan, lead, direct and motivate highly skilled professional staff members; to manage multiple, concurrent priorities and easily adapt to constantly changing priorities; ability to maintain effective working relationships and establish the highest level of integrity with others; strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), particularly for obtaining, organizing and conveying complex program information to all CDS staff, hospital staff and other stakeholders.
