VOCATIONAL COUNSELOR

Working with neurological patients from BNI and other referral sources, our selected candidate will promote and develop job opportunities for patients with acquired brain injuries and attend work sites with patients to provide education and support to patients and job supervisors. You will serve as a liaison between job site and our milieu-oriented rehabilitation program and will provide counsel and education to both patients and family members regarding appropriate work and career direction based on the patient’s cognitive, language, psychosocial, and physical potential. Candidate will function as an integral part of a holistic, milieu program. Requires a MA in Rehabilitation Counseling and 2+ years related experience. REQUIREMENTS:We are seeking a hands on Vocational Counselor to assist patients in group and individual sessions to determine careers consistent with aptitudes, interests, and physical, cognitive and interpersonal limitations. The Vocational Counselor assists patients’ transition into volunteer, school/training programs and gainful employment positions with job coaching and employer/school liaison. MUST HAVE DIRECT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND ON-SITE JOB TRAINING EXPERIENCE. Counsels individuals with brain injuries to provide vocational rehabilitation services. Determines suitable job or career training consistent with interests, aptitudes, and physical, cognitive and emotional limitations. REQUIREMENTS: Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling. Two years experience in a neurorehabilitation setting is strongly preferred.
