Trauma Registrar

Position Summary:

 

-Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Trauma Registrar assures compliance with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and departmental requirements of the Trauma Registry.  

-Responsible for coordinating Trauma Performance Improvement activities. 

-Assures accurate, timely and comprehensive data collection, coding and data entry. Validates identified trauma data. 

-Acts as liaison with ACS, DPH, NTDB and software vendor. 

 

Position Qualifications:

 

-Associates degree in Medical Record Management Medical Terminology or related health science field or equivalent experience required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

-Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) certification is required.

-Familiarity with Trauma Registry, medical terminology, ICD-9, AIS coding, medical terminology and procedure codes is required.

-Must be proficient in Microsoft office products, especially Excel and Word and have  working knowledge of Access.

-Must have familiarity of American College of Surgeon standards. 

-Must have demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to work collaboratively with a variety of team members and disciplines.

-Prior project management related experience preferred
