JOB DETAILS: Scheduled hours per week: 20.00, Begin and end Times: 8-4:30PM; Days of work: Varies with unit needs & various projects. SUMMARY: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Holds current registered nurse license from the State of Ohio. Knowledge in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. BCLS certification. BLS Instructor. Knowledge in the nursing process with expertise in adult learning and staff development. Some experience with Change and Systems Theories, Performance Improvement, role and team development and evaluation processes. EXPERIENCE: One to three years clinical with some teaching.. REQUIREMENTS:This position combines the responsibilities of a Staff RN and Education Specialist (I, II or III). It is intended primarily for Education Specialists with a large emphasis acting as Staff RN by providing patient care. The incumbent can be one of three levels of an Education Specialist; however, the minimum requirements for this position is a Bachelor¿s Degree, as opposed to a Masters Degree.Staff RN - Provides general nursing care to patients and families along the health illness continuum while collaborating with the healthcare team. Accountable for the practice of nursing as defined by the state statutes.Education Specialist I or IIGuides professional nurses and others to maximize their performance. Responsible for maintaining education practice standards in providing leadership for the educational process. Fulfills the roles of educator, facilitator, project manager, mentor, consultant, and researcher and supports performance improvement activities. Assesses educational needs. Assists in the planning & designing of programs. Implements and evaluates education. Education Specialist IIIThe roles of the Employee Education Specialist III (EES III) emerge from the American Nurses Association Standards of Practice for Professional Development. The roles consist of educator, facilitator, consultant, leader, change agent and researcher. The EES III integrates ethical principles in all aspects of practice, supports process improvement activities and promotes life-long learning.
