The 47-bed Novato Community Hospital is a not-for-profit, general acute care hospital accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Serving its community since 1961, the hospital affiliated with Sutter Health in 1985. Novato Community Hospital works in close partnership with Marin General Hospital to provide for the health care needs of more than 64,000 North Marin County residents. In 2001 Novato Community Hospital opened a $40 million replacement hospital and medical office building on the Novato Medical Campus.The primary role of the Staff R.N. is to perform the delivery of care for Emergency Department patients during a specified period of time, so that the physical, psychosocial, safety, rehabilitative and learning needs of patients and their families are addressed.  This function is performed in association with nursing peers and co-workers, attending physicians and allied support services.  The Staff R.N. competently uses the nursing process, medical therapeutics, technological and personal interventions to accomplish this.  Actively participates in hospital quality assurance/improvement, risk management, clinical operations and customer service excellence programs.   Featuring a $38 million replacement hospital, which opened in early 2001, Novato Community Hospital is a 46-bed acute care facility serving more than 64,000 residents of North Marin County. The hospital's services include a 24-hour emergency department, an ambulatory care center, diagnostic imaging, surgery center, cardiac care and laboratory services. Novato Community Hospital patients have access to additional services, such as obstetrical care and cardiac catheterization laboratory services, at nearby Marin General Hospital through a collaborative arrangement between the two facilities.             • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.  Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.  Has current license to practice nursing in California.      Certifications Required:  BLS-HP, ACLS, PALS* (*within 6 months of hire)  MAB Training within 60 days of hire and maintained annually. Preferred: CEN and TNCC     • Experience:  Current experience in Emergency Nursing.  Must have demonstrated competency in critical care knowledge base,   critical thinking skills and technical competence to function independently in a community.  Preferred to have one-year experience in   emergency care during the past three years.   • Knowledge:  The staff R.N. position requires specific skills and knowledge of current Emergency Nursing Standards of Practice.   Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language in order to effectively communicate with other health care   providers and patients/families.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.  Multi lingual preferred.
