Staff Nurse- Hematology/Oncology-Part time
Looking for experience nurses with pediatric or Oncology experience. 8 and 12 hours shifts. This 21-bed Hematology/Oncology unit provide care to patients with oncological disease processes. The unit's design includes two isolation rooms and three private patient rooms. This unit also provides care for patients requiring services from other medical and surgical pediatric subspecialties that include endocrinology, neurology and neurosurgery, and otolaryngology. Admitting diagnoses include: Leukemia, brain tumors, solid organ malignancies, sickle cell disorders and other types of blood disorders, diabetes, seizures, and shunt revisions. In addition, adult stem cell and bone marrow donors may be cared for on this unit. The type of patient care provided in this area is complex due to patient diagnosis, the intensity of therapy, the criticality of patient condition, and the extensive patient/family issues that necessitate nursing intervention. The nursing staff provides nursing care through a modified primary nurse model. The primary nurse is responsible for coordinating patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team. Nursing Competencies required to work in this area are the administration of chemotherapy, as well as in the care of a patient receiving chemotherapy. Competencies are accomplished and maintained through educational programs provided by Nursing Education. Associates or Bachlors prepared nurse. Eligable for licensure in the state of DE.
