Speech Therapist - PRN - 000VX
Phoenix Childrens Hospital is the only specialty childrens hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the states largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. In addition, the hospital continues to evolve its clinical practices and is working with leading local and national research partners to uncover new breakthroughs in pediatric medicine. Currently a 299 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled in October 2006 that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years. In short, PCH is a growing, thriving organization where opportunities for personal development and promotion of our employees will continue in years to come. Primary Purpose: This is a PRN position. This position is responsible for providing speech-language pathology services to a pediatric population, from neonate to adolescent, including evaluation and treatment in the areas of communication and swallowing. Work Environment: 1. Must be able to lift 30 pounds. 2. Must be able to problem solve, and reason. 3. Must communicate clearly in English. Requires the ability to speak, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties of the job. Positive human relations skills are required, including confidentialities, in order to appropriately interface with management, all levels of Phoenix Children's Hospital staff, physicians, patients, their families, and other contacts. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 1. Requires a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech/Language Pathology which is awarded by the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association or was hired as a Clinical Fellow to complete this certification. This certificate includes completion of a Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology, one year of clinical fellowship, and successful completion of the national exam. 2. Must demonstrate professional knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders. 3. Must be physically capable of performing all speech pathology procedures. 4. Effective human relation skills are required for interfacing with patients, families, and other disciplines within the hospital and community. 5. Must demonstrate values consistent with those identified as PCH core values.
