Job Title:  SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for the enhancements to existing VB.Net (DotNetNuke) software application, id Card Production Application (VB6.0) and ad hoc requests. Maintains understanding of all functional areas of the business in order to effectively enhance the user community's ability to perform their job functions.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

· Programming (75-80%), Analysis (15-25%), User/Management Communications (10-15%), and Miscellaneous (5-10%). 

 

· Writes the necessary programs per specifications to provide desired results within the guidelines as outlined by the department and writes necessary specifications as directed by the Manager, Application Development. 

 

· Investigates reported program and system production problems and prepares and implements effective solutions.

 

· Acquires and maintains in-depth knowledge of applications within application area. 

 

· Provides assistance in the development of implementation and conversion plans for applications within application group. 

 

· Conducts thorough program, job, and integration testing prior to handing over to user groups for user acceptance testing. 

 

· Communicates with user community during user acceptance testing. 

 

· Conducts follow-up testing and monitors fixes and/or enhancements after implementation. 

 

· Provides analysis on other projects, as defined. 

 

· Keeps management informed of project status through periodic status reporting.

 

· Follows all policies and procedures relating to job responsibilities.

 

· Exhibits compliant and ethical behavior in the performance of job responsibilities, including complying with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, HealthExtras Code of Conduct, Business Ethics Policies and Procedures and other polices and procedures applicable to position.

 

· Actively participates in HealthExtras’ Compliance and Ethics Program, including attending annual compliance and ethics training and reporting suspected violations of the law or HealthExtras polices and procedures via HealthExtras Procedures for Reporting Incidents of Possible Improper Employment Practices, Misconduct, or Improper Financial/Accounting Practices.  

 

· Performs other duties as assigned to meet corporate objectives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Bachelor's Degree (technical degree) preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience, a minimum of 4 - 8 years programming experience and demonstrated solid knowledge and understanding of programming and disciplines.  Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills, and be able to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment and work effectively with staff at all levels.
