Business/Strategic Management Relevant Work Experience:: 7+ to 10 Years Education Level: Master's Degree Description:The Business Planning Senior Manager plays a lead role in driving planning and strategy projects for the Partners Healthcare System, including our flagship, founding members, Massachusetts General and Brigham and Womens Hospitals. This position reports to the Corporate Director of Business Planning, directly supervises a staff of up to four Project Managers, and jointly manages a team of approximately a dozen staff.The Senior Manager leads initiatives that drive the strategic direction of the Partners System, including feasibility studies and business planning for new facility development, market expansion, medical service line development and other capital projects. This includes directing various market and financial analyses, including, ROI, P&L, payer mix and margin improvement analyses. The Senior Manager works collaboratively with other Senior Managers and with administrative and physician partners at our member hospitals to execute these initiatives.The Senior Manager is expected to possess expert knowledge of the healthcare market and to continuously develop this knowledge in order to provide effective leadership.Lead strategic and financial analyses to inform and support Partners Corporate and member institutions (the hospitals) business planning efforts (e.g. capital projects, market expansion, clinical service line development). Collaborates in strategy setting, business plan development and analytic work with other Senior Managers and with Partners member institutions.Develops and presents proposals to Senior Management.Manage financial and market models used to support strategic projects and decisions.Manage multiple corporate and multi-entity projects comprising cross-functional teams from Business Planning, Finance, Marketing and our hospitals.Identify recruiting needs, and develop staff. Responsible for performance management of Project Managers. Oversee work distribution, monitor productivity and ensure quality deliverables are met for each project.Qualifications:General: Bachelors degree required; MBA or MPH preferred. Seven plus years of financial analysis and strategic planning experience in a healthcare environment.Strategic Planning: Extensive knowledge of (healthcare) finance, market dynamics and strategy. Ability to develop the analytical approach and create high quality deliverables to meet corporate and hospital business planning demands. Ability to balance detailed, quantitative analytic tasks with strategic thinking. Superior analytic and problem solving skills. Project Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to drive projects to completion in a complex, deadline-driven environment. Exceptional ability to prioritize multiple tasks/projects/resources to meet department objectives and deadlines consistently. Is self-directed and displays good judgment. Excellent client relationships. Interpersonal: Effective in working with senior level clinical and executive leadership. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities. Ability to navigate and develop effective working relationships within a large organization.Managerial: Demonstrated ability to effectively guide and manage the analytical work of others. Experience in managing and developing staff. Effective at team-building.Technical: Financial analysis skills, including return-on-investment analysis. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
