Senior Chemist

Job Description: Reports directly to the Director of Chemistry. The Senior Chemist in Endocrinology is responsible for supervising complicated clinical laboratory assays, evaluating new methods and tests; conducting quality control checks. Supervising daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment, and training laboratory technologist and technicians in performing laboratory assays. Supervision of the performance of Special Chemistry including Endocrinology and manual/semi-automated Chemistry Tests.Job Qualifications: Professional level of knowledge in the specialized field of Endocrinology.Education Required: PhDNew York State Department of Health Certification of Qualifications in ChemistryRequired Experience 2-5 years of Chemistry in order to interpret findings, understanding and apply principles of instrumentation and techniques of specialized procedures used in Chemistry and EndocrinologyAnalytic abilities necessary to evaluate and monitor performance of tests for accuracy, precision, sensitivity and specificityExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with nurses and clinicians
