Senior Accounting Analyst
SENIOR ACCOUNTING ANALYST/DECISION SUPPORT
HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
Position Summary: Provide Decision Support to Senior Management in organizational-wide business and economic decision making. Implementation and maturation of DSS to support executive management team. Also provide Decision Support to all hospital management to facilitate operational decisions requiring financial analysis. Position Accountabilities: The following are essential job accountabilities:
1. Provides financial oversight for the management and implementation and database updates of the Cost Accounting System.
2. Updates knowledge of GAAP through current literature, professional association and other publications.
3. Performs Hospital Cost accounting analysis and update periodically to support program analysis and service line assessments.
4. Drawing knowledge of GAAP and industry trends, develops working knowledge of provider contractingtrategies and pricing methods.
5. Maintains current working knowledge of reimbursement principles and trends .Provides strategic recommendation for upcoming contract modeling plans.
6. Researches compile and complete ad hoc financial analysis under instruction of Director of Finance.
7. Involvement in developing operating budget model and validating that assumptions are correctly calculated and accurately placed in the budget software.
8. Tracking goal metrics in standardized month-end budget variance narrative included in month-end financial statement package.
9. Incorporates this knowledge to support financial assessment and analyses of managed care contracts and feasibility studies . Analyze cost and utilization data and recommend optimum rate proposals in contract negotiations.
10. Act as lead resource for compiling, analyzing and calculating costs using Cost Accounting System.
11. Meets with department directors to coordinate cost data to determine full and incremental costs for procedure and major product lines.
12. Prepares Cost analysis reports and provide financial analyses of clinical programs.
13. Provides decision support to facilitate sound financial assessments at the procedure, patient and department levels.
14. Assures Cost Accounting system is effective, accurate and data is uploaded in a timely matter after each month end close..
15. Uses systematic methods to resolve problems, plans, change and evaluate outcome.
16. Assures that documentation is completed accurately and thoroughly.
Other Position Accountabilities: 1. Responsibility for the initiation, cultivation and maintenance of friction-free relationships of a business or professional nature with any one or more of the following; government agencies, financial institutions, or the general community. 2. In addition, good communication skills, also the use of persuasion and tact in maintaining such relationships. 3. Serves as a liaison with other departments. Communicates regularly with Administration and managers of other departments. 4. Maintains good employee morale. 5. All other duties as assigned by Director of Finance.
Position Qualifications: Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or Economics MBA designation + or relevant hospital experience 8+ years. Minimum Experience/Skills: (5) or more years of experience as a Sr. Financial Analyst in hospital environment. Knowledge of the process for recording, classifying and summarizing financial transactions and events in accordance with established guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles. Interprets results for users who must make economic or business decisions. Includes the ability to analyze financial reports and maintain automated decision support systems. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to a specific subject area or function. Extensive database software experience, advanced data mining techniques, expertise in designing models and statistical testing. Direct experience with Tenet-Perot software, especially Showcase, highly desirable.
