Senior Accountant (Finance)
Sutter Medical Foundation is a not-for-profit organization supporting the quality medical services provided by Sutter Independent Physicians, Sutter Medical Group, Sutter Neuroscience Medical Group and Sutter West Medical Group. Serving the counties of Sacramento, Placer, Nevada, Amador and Yolo, Sutter Medical Foundation physicians are dedicated to providing exceptional services, listening to the patients’ needs and ensuring that patients play an important role in their health care.Participates in maintaining the Medical Foundation general ledger in order to prepare and present the monthly financial statements.Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.Direct experience in general accounting, equivalent to two years in a position sufficient to acquire basic job knowledge in the general ledger sub systems such as payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable. Also, a good working knowledge of healthcare accounting issues and requirements and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with on-going deadlines is desired.Understanding of GAAP. Knowledge of personal computers and spreadsheets is required and knowledge of accounting software is preferred. Must have strong analytical and organization skills, and the ability to work well as a team.The incumbent must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills including demonstrated skills in account reconciliations, ability to perform 10-key by touch, and proficiency in designing and utilizing Excel spreadsheets and graphs. Must be skillful in the Lawson accounting software and must be able to efficiently navigate around the software. Must also have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with and communicate with clinicians and all levels of management. Must deal appropriately with confidential information and have a high-level of attention to accuracy and details. Ability to handle shifting priorities, and multiple projects independently and with personal initiative is important, as is the ability to work as part of a team. Must have sufficient experience to participate in process improvements and identify areas to make more efficient. Demonstrates a clear understanding of, and consistently adheres to department and facility policies and procedures.
