Safety AdministratorMetro Area Up to $32.69 per hour

This is a SOSS position which provides services to AMRTC, CBHH Rochester, METO, Como Community Transition, Eveleth Community Transitions, C.A.R.E. Anoka and River Oaks.

This position requires great autonomy as a centralized function working throughout SOS and dispersed throughout the state of Minnesota. The full position description details the scope of the position which includes the expectations summarized below.

1. To develop, maintain and manage risks management, safety, health and environmental program

plans and procedures that are customized to fit the needs of the various customers.

2.  To identify patient safety risks and work with facilities and program to apply sound processes to identify and manage patient safety risks.
3.  Reviews and analyses patient incident data for trends, and engage facility safety committees in proactive planning to prevent injury.
4.  To develop programs to monitor and audit the effectiveness of site specific safety programs and to provide the training, coaching and consultation to permit the staff of the site to competently monitor their own safety programs as the safety officer is not a daily presence on the unit.
5.  To develop and manage specific on-site consultations requiring in-depth knowledge of safety standards and federal, state and local codes and how to meet these regulations while meeting safety security needs of the sites.
6.  To collaborate with SOS Staff Development in the development appropriate training using multiple methods of delivering information to enhance safety and reduce risk of injury or adverse events.
7.  To investigate employee accidents, incidents to make recommendations for reducing the risks identified. Identify trends, bring new knowledge to the table to inform and develop risk reduction plans.
8. To communicate on findings and apparent trends of injuries and audits; formulate an analysis of causative factors and then in collaboration with the leadership and staff identify and initiate preventative measures.

Qualifications: Masters Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health or highly related field. Plus three years of professional safety/ industrial hygiene/ occupational health experience
within a large organization. Healthcare experience is a plus. To be creditable, this experience should demonstrate:  Thorough knowledge of federal and state occupational safety and health rules and regulations, cumulative trauma injury prevention, ergonomics, techniques of injury prevention and hazard evaluation.  A basic understanding of industrial hygiene. Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.  Leadership skills sufficient to effectively facilitate meetings and bring groups and committees to productive and solutions-focused conclusions.  Demonstrated ability to identify occupational safety and health problems and to develop, support and implement solutions. Preferred Qualification: Certified Industrial Hygienist OR Certified Safety Professional.

Benefits: We offer a competitive base salary. In addition, the state's contribution toward your insurance, retirement, and Medicare and Social Security benefits is 30 percent of your salary.  Not including the cost of vacation time, holidays, sick leave and other benefits.  Employees earn 11 paid holidays per year.  Health insurance is free to employees who work 3/4 time or more.
