SENIOR PHYSICAL THERAPIST
JOB DESCRIPTION:
San Francisco General Hospital’s Rehabilitation Department is accepting applications for one full-time class 2558 Senior Physical Therapist.
SHIFT: To Be Determined.
PATIENT/CLIENT POPULATION: Infant-toddler, pre-school child and school age child, adolescents, adults and elderly adults.
All City and County of San Francisco employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
Appointment Type: Permanent and Provisional applicants encouraged to apply. Provisional applicants must participate in a Civil Service examination for this job classification to become permanent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Under general supervision, the Senior Physical Therapist directs plans, coordinates and participates in administering physical therapy treatments, student-in-training and non-professional personnel in elementary physical therapy rehabilitation techniques. The essential job functions include:
· Directs therapists and students-in-training in administering treatments as prescribed by referring physicians
· Instructs students-in-training and non-professional personnel in elementary physical and therapy rehabilitation, procedures and techniques
· Supervises Physical Therapists in developing and implementing physical therapy treatment plans and administers physical therapy treatments to patients
· Coordinates with other personnel in order to achieve the maximum rehabilitation of patients
· Schedules patients for consultation with physical specialists
· Maintains records of educational leaves and attendance
· Performs other related duties as assigned/required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Possession of a valid permanent Californialicense as a Physical Therapist issued by the Physical Therapy Board of California as prescribed in Chapter 5.7, Article 3 of the Physical Therapy act. ( a photocopy of the license must be submitted at the time of filing)
· Acceptance by the Physical Therapy Board of California for the next licensing examination. (a photocopy of the letter of acceptance must be submitted at the time of filing)
· Three years of verifiable experience as a physical therapist
Verification/Waiver: Verification of qualifying experience, education, and/or training is required at the time of filing. Candidates unable to do so may submit a letter requesting a waiver of this requirement indicating the reason(s) verification cannot be obtained. Failure to submit verification or request for waiver will result in application rejection.
DESIRED QUALIFICATION(S):
· Student clinical instructor experience
· Three years clinical experience preferred in acute care, Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or acute rehab, outpatient or Workers’ Compensation setting
· Clinical coordinator experience
· Experience teaching in a professional student curriculum
