SENIOR AUDIO VISUAL TECH
This position is responsible for the following:
• Assisting the Director, Executive Communications in accomplishing successfully all major equipment and audiovisual support for all Highmark corporate activities. This includes all day-to-day equipment and technical assistance tasks as assigned and necessary.
• Operates successfully all high end video and audio recording hardware and associated equipment for corporate recordings. Trouble shooting technical problems and user difficulties is a major accountability.
• The Senior Audiovisual Technician is responsible for synchronizing and allocating Highmark’s audiovisual resources with the Audiovisual Coordinator in Camp Hill and successfully assuring its delivery and operation, as appropriate. This dimension of accountability is increasingly important in maintaining effective communications within Highmark.
• The incumbent is responsible for the coordination, delivery, placement, and daily successful operation of all audiovisual equipment for all Pittsburgh and western Pennsylvania corporate events, meetings and demonstrations. This accountability includes all Highmark meetings both onsite and offsite, especially in the western Pennsylvania area.
• This requires close coordination with the department’s Graphics Specialist, Facilities and meeting scheduling personnel, Desktop Consulting and Telecommunications staff in the case of video teleconferencing.
• The Senior Audiovisual Technician will assist the Director in the compilation, testing, setup and production of all IPTV broadcasts for simultaneous broadcast to selected Highmark locations.
• Smooth and effective working relationships with the Graphics Specialist; Audiovisual Coordinator; Training personnel and ISG network personnel are necessary for the successful production of these broadcasts.
• Ongoing analysis and evaluation of all department and corporate conference room hardware corporate wide and recommends upgrades and/or changes in technique or methodologies to the Director, Executive Communications.
• Providing input for development of and adherence to the capital and operating budget for the Executive Communications area.
• The incumbent is responsible for the accurate accounting of all Executive Communication assets, its regular maintenance and repair or replacement.
• Must be able to travel overnight regularly to all Highmark office locations carrying and setting up necessary equipment and able to regularly work extended hours and weekends, as needed.
• The incumbent daily assists the Director of Executive Communications and staff in the creation of audio and video productions for corporate wide use.
• Also the incumbent recurrently and independently records and edits production materials specifically for use on a corporate wide basis. Regular assignments include material to be used in corporate training modules, marketing and sales information for distribution to sales producers and Highmark clients.
The Senior Audiovisual Technician works closely with the Audiovisual Coordinator in Camp Hill to coherently and effectively break up assignment responsibilities for a given project, assessing the expertise needed and making recommendations to the Director, Executive Communications. The incumbent receives assignments from the Director, Executive Communications but also may receive job requests directly from other department staff and Highmark personnel.
The Senior Audiovisual Technician regularly assists the Director Executive Communications in the setup, functional operation and production of the quarterly Highmark Management Meetings, conducted by the president and senior staff officers. This position must assist the Director, Executive Communications in the monthly preparations for and execution of the Highmark Board and Executive Committee Meetings. Preparation, setup and regular monthly production assistance is also required to support Highmark’s monthly sales meetings and sales training. This requires appropriate skills in effectively using multi-point video teleconferencing techniques and hardware.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Bachelor’s degree in multimedia, communications, or advanced audiovisual production with a specific concentration in media production is required or High School Diploma/GED and Five to seven years experience in audio visual, film or video production field is required.
• One year experience with the latest computer aided video and audio editing and control software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience and skills with a broad range of audiovisual and telecommunications and computer hardware and software. This would include demonstrated expertise with the latest computer aided video and audio editing and control software. These relatively new areas of expertise require regular training updates and a strong desire to remain current in this growing area of communications technology.
• A high degree of organizational skills and the ability to adhere to tight production and setup schedules, as well as, the flexibility to be responsive to the non-scheduled needs of all Highmark staff and the ability to provide assistance for corporate sponsored events, as appropriate.
• The Senior Audiovisual Technician must possess analytical skills and expertise in the operation of all department equipment to include: video Teleprompters, LCD projection equipment, Digital Audio Tape recorders, all AMX electronic control devices. Other equipment requiring experienced operation to include distribution amplifiers, digital video cameras and associated audio equipment. Assignments would require expertise in lighting, electronic connections with computers to include serial digital interfaces and IEEE connectivity. The incumbent must be fully versed in AES and digital audio recording and editing.
• Demonstrated expertise is required in the operation of video web cast hardware and software. Knowledge of and operation of broadcast quality video cameras, switchers, digital video recorders and associated audio recording equipment is necessary. Also, the incumbent is responsible for broadcast quality video taping of assigned projects, producing professional quality audio recordings and shooting both film and digital photos, as assigned.
• A high degree of creativity and technical skill is required in formulating and producing appropriate photos and video recordings. Necessary skills include the expertise to edit audio and video in both a nonlinear computer and an analog environment. Expertise in the use of such software as Bias Peak, Sound Forge, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Freehand, PowerPoint and Flash, as well as the ability to successfully encode various video formats into compressed media.
• The incumbent must be able to create DVD’s, video CD’s and the ability to create cross platform computer format files for display and distribution by using appropriate software, as required. Effective use and familiarity with special equipment interfaces to existing corporate hardware is necessary. Onsite monitoring of meetings and events to include the operation of projection and audio equipment may be required to assure smooth and effective presentations for corporate management and sales personnel, as required.
