Rx Business Development Manager

We now have a great opportunity available at our Washington, DC location.This individual will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities relating to the pharmacy benefit, working with the PBM’s to bring value to the pharmacy benefit as well as maximize contractual opportunities through new products, enhancement of current projects or green field business development outside of the contracted PBM’s. This position will coordinate the various pharmacy clinical programs with care coordination, case management and disease management vendors, by working with and identifying new vendors, new data analysis tools and managing their implementation, and formulating new linkages to various medical management programs within the association. Will stay abreast of new clinical findings and analyzing them for potential business opportunities and take direction from the ED as it relates to new projects and working independently to management those projects.Required basic qualifications:Licensed PharmacistMinimum of seven years experience in Managed Care Pharmacy in either a supervisory, business development, or clinical lead type of role Preferred basic qualifications:PharmD or advanced degree in business (e.g. MBA, MPH, etc.)Strong leadership skillsDemonstrated experience in a customer service backgroundDemonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and in meaningful termsDemonstrated ability to perform financial analysis on new products and services as well as basic SWOT analysis on new projectsDemonstrated ability to work not only on the business aspects of pharmacy but a demonstrated ability to keep abreast of latest happenings in clinical knowledge as it relates to pharmacyRetail or Specialty Pharmacy experiencePrior experience with public speaking or publications where individual was the primary authorSystems knowledge of various care management tools as they are being rolled out to the various plansBCBSA employs more than 900 of the best strategic thinkers in the health insurance industry and offers a dynamic work environment, competitive salaries with an annual bonus program, great benefits, work/family balance, a diverse workplace, and much more!
