the sponsored activities of Intermountain Health Care (Intermountain). The ideal person will have
the technical, analytical and communication skills necessary to lead a team of experts in
supporting health care professionals in superior fiscal management of sponsored activities and
minimizing audit findings. This position coordinates the accounting of sponsored activities for all
Intermountain facilities and acts as a liaison to local accounting managers in resolving accounting
issues and facilitating audits. The position will develop, negotiate and implement indirect cost
rates and oversee the financial reporting to meet the needs of Intermountain's sponsored
activities, including reports required to meet regulatory requirements. This position will provide
consultation and support in the development, analysis, interpretation, and management of
budgets and contracts to assure costs are recovered, and will be responsible for actively
managing the award process to ensure appropriate use of funds and compliance with applicable
government and corporate standards. The following standards are expected at all times: positive
attitude, prompt and efficient service, respect of co-workers, teamwork and flexibility.
System-wide accountability for the accounting of sponsored activities including policy
development, consulting with principal investigators, budget implementation, and month-end
closing of the two general ledger companies where sponsored activities are recorded. Oversight
and responsibility of the annual A-133 audit of Intermountain's federally-sponsored activities. (The
2007 A-133 audit included $10 million of federal expenditures involving 70 programs.) Oversight of privately sponsored activities and clinical trials include approximately 155 studies with annual
budgets of $4.6 million.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelors in accounting or related field with seven (7) years of progressive related experience, or
Masters in accounting or related field with five (5) years of progressive related experience. Must
have demonstrated leadership abilities in a team environment and be able to work collaboratively
with others. Must have prior direct supervisory experience, with demonstrated leadership abilities

to work with limited direct supervision. Detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical
skills. Must be flexible and adaptable to change. Excellent communication skills (both written and
oral) with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization. Computer skill requirements include: spreadsheets, word processing and Internet. Must have in-depth knowledge as well as previous experience in research accounting (preferably in health care).
Preferred requirements:
Masters in Accounting or related field, CPA, working knowledge of Intermountain information
systems and financial processes, and database knowledge.
