Job Description Perform a wide variety of duties under professional supervision related to the physical rehabilitation of Center residents/patients, following established methods and procedures. § 75% clinical support, 25% clerical support. Supports the following departments: Inpt PT, OT, and SLP; Outpatient rehab services; MACU Rehab; RSU Rehab; Circle of Fitness; Respiratory Therapy; Radiology; Audiology.§ Transport residents to and from therapies using proper transfer and ambulation techniques as required. Prepare residents appropriately for treatment including transferring to treatment plinth, dressing/undressing, draping and positioning, assembling ambulation aids, assisting resident to apply prosthesis, etc. § Under supervision of a therapist, perform individual and group treatment including: modalities, gait training, therapeutic exercise, walking groups, other group activities and maintenance programs. On the RSU direct visual supervision is required. § Participate in staff and resident rehabilitation, educational programming and development.§ On a daily basis, maintain departmental equipment in clean/operating condition for Inpt, MACU, and RSU rehab services areas. § Assist in the preparation and assignment of assistive devices, wheelchairs, and ADL equipment. Maintain wheelchair storage area. Assist with wheelchair receiving and distribution to therapists.§ Orient volunteers assigned to therapies to transport procedures, the Center and various duties. Assist in department record keeping and documentation as assigned.§ Instruct floor personnel in routine therapy techniques as required or directed. Assist in cleaning and general housekeeping duties of departments. Detect and report defective supplies/equipment or other unusual conditions to supervisor. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.§ Assist in preparing for orthopedic clinic.§ Copy materials for departments and perform other clerical/secretarial duties. Assist in organizing and coordinating the transport scheduling of Occupational Therapy groups.§ In absence of Administrative Assistant, collect mail for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology and deliver to appropriate person and log referrals in book.§ Assist with duties in Outpatient Physical Therapy as needed.§ Protect patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communication according to HIPPA standards.§ Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.§ Exemplify professionalism and exhibit values that contribute to the achievement of the mission of the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center.§ Perform other related duties as required or directed.§ Knowledge of basic mathematics skills. Use and checking of reports, records and comparable data. Equivalent to a high school education.§ Three to six months of experience in a related field. Required Training§ Successful completion of HRC orientation.§ Successful completion of departmental orientation and “on the job” training.§ Annual attendance at hazards communication, infection control, fire safety and elder abuse education programs.Working Conditions§ Contact with residents under a variety of circumstances which may include exposure to unpleasant odors, sights and sounds.§ Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.§ May be exposed to infections, contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens.Required Protective Equipment§ Gloves, Gown and mask as necessary.Physical Demands§ Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing and/or walking.§ Lifting, positioning, transporting, and/or transferring residents.§ Lifting supplies, equipment.§ Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching.
