Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health

This is a full-time (evenings) Psychiatric RN opening on our adult 22-bed Behavioral Health Unit. Primary duties include milieu management; 1:1 work; and implementing detoxification protocols.  Position requires crisis intervention skills, analytic thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment; therapeutic communication skills, calm demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills and high energy.  Current RN license required.  Psychiatric Certification and 3-5 years experience in behavioral health preferred.

A primary nursing model is employed with tasks and responsibilities including: physical and mental status assessment; patient and family education; individualized treatment planning within the context of a multidisciplinary team approach and changes in patient status; participating in clinical rounds to lead treatment planning and goal revision in accordance with age-related and problem-specific needs of assigned patients; and, conducting and/or co-leading group therapy sessions. Participation in Quality Improvement initiatives, the Clinical Ladder program and Magnet is optional but strongly encouraged.  Clinical Information is documented utilizing computerized documentation systems.

Requires the ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds within the context of maintaining a safe environment and milieu management.
