Refractive Surgery Technician

Shift: Day shift Hours: 8am-4:30pm, M-F, + 1 Sat/month Grade: 8.0 Contact Information: Address: 750 Washington Street Box 795 Boston, MA 02111 Job Details: - High school diploma or equivalent is required - Certification Preferred - 3-5 years experience is required Under general supervision of the Chief Ophthalmic Technician and following established standards and procedures, helps facilitate patient flow and performs all technical and diagnostic functions of the Ophthalmic Technician II. Measures ocular motility and performs more advanced diagnostic tests. Assists the Chief Technician in orienting new employees and provides technical training for staff. Knowledge of eye terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Good interpersonal skills to effectively work with patients including elderly and sensory handicapped. Good communication skills to effectively explain the exam process to patients and to train staff in technical functions. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned area. High School diploma or equivalent and completion of ophthalmic, optometry, or medical assistant training program and/or AAO Home Study course. Three years technician experience in an ophthalmic practice and/or certification through JCAHPO. TN
