RESEARCH SPECIALIST
Description:General SummaryThe Translational Imaging Laboratory at McLean Hospital currently is searching for a Research Specialist having experience with magnetic resonance data analysis and scan support including scanner operation and quality assurance (Q/A) testing. This position is responsible for analyzing and helping to acquire magnetic resonance structural imaging, functional imaging, and spectroscopy data from a number of ongoing animal imaging research projects on an ultra high magnetic field (9.4 Tesla) MRI scanner. This position also is responsible for Q/A testing and general scanner maintenance. Experience with imaging, functional imaging, and spectroscopy data analysis software packages such as ImageJ, MATLAB, IDL, and LCmodel is necessary. Experience with software and hardware aspects of Varian MRI scanners is beneficial. Small animal handling experience is a plus. The Research Specialist will be expected to develop new solutions to enhance data analysis throughput.Principal Duties and Responsibilities1. Analyzes and interprets imaging data from structural, functional, and spectroscopy experiments.2. Assists the Project Manager in the conduct of MRI scans3. Performs routine scanner Q/A testing and general laboratory maintenanceQualifications:The successful applicant will have at minimum:MS degree or equivalent in imaging data analysis, biophysics, or a related field3-5 Years direct research work experienceA basic working knowledge of MR physicsGood quantitative and communication (writing and speaking) skillsWorking ConditionsThe Research Specialist will work at the McLean Hospital 9.4 T Facility.
