Physician Assistant - General Surgery

The Toledo Hospital - Physician Assistant- General Surgery (PA) is a health professional registered by the State of Ohio to practice medicine with physician supervision. Physician assistants are qualified by graduation from an accredited physician assistant program and certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Within the physician/physician assistant relationship, physician assistants provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. The clinical role of a physician assistant includes primary and specialty care in medical and surgical practice settings. Physician assistant practice is centered on patient care, but may include educational, research and administrative activities. Serves the following patient populations: infant, neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric.

Must have at a minimum an Associate’s degree; Master’s degree preferred. Completion of a CAHEA accredited PA program, which is sponsored by the American Medical Association. Must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants as well as a certificate of registration to practice in the State of Ohio. Must successfully complete hospital credentialing process. Previous experience in an acute care setting required. Ability to participate in multidisciplinary care teams as patient care providers. Ortho, Trauma or Surgical experience preferred.
