Performance Management Leader

Job Description: Application of LEAN/Six Sigma, Change Acceleration Process, and other performance improvement methods and tools is integral to quality of care efforts at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. This individual will support organization-wide performance improvement and implement and support operational and clinical quality improvement initiatives that support Mount Sinai Medical Center strategic objectives. This position requires effective use of performance measurement, target definition, evaluation and reporting expertise to drive significant performance improvement. This outcomes oriented individual will coordinate and facilitate improvements, using established and cutting edge performance measurement methods and tools, systems design and implementation, and effective multidisciplinary teamwork. Working with administrative and clinical leadership and staff, s/he will model innovative and effective performance improvement practices and methods and mentor others in using the same. The Performance Management Leader supports organization-wide capacity to monitor and review operations, clinical safety and satisfaction performance results, including service volume and efficiency, customer and patient safety and satisfaction, clinical quality, budgetary and financial planning and regulatory compliance. Identifies performance improvement opportunities with time limited and objective goals. Develops and executes performance improvement initiatives and projects. Collaborates with clinical and administrative leadership and staff to prioritize improvement areas, and develop and monitor implementation and evaluation plans. Under supervision of the Director, collaboratively designs and implements projects with multidisciplinary teams using Six Sigma, LEAN, change management (e.g., CAP and Work-Out) and other performance improvement methods and tools to drive key organizational goals. Champions the use of data-driven, results-oriented improvement concepts, tools and methods. Utilizes appropriate information systems to develop integrated clinical, financial, and operational data analytical capacity of the EVP Office Performance Management team and others. Trains colleagues on the philosophy and application of performance improvement tools and methodologies including, but not limited to Six Sigma, CAP/WorkOut, LEAN, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis and Workout and others. Identifies and manages resources required to successfully execute projects. In collaboration with the Performance Management Director and colleagues, provides a variety of performance measurement, evaluation, reporting and management support to Mount Sinai Medical Center clinical and operations leadership, including coordinating analysis, reports, etc., as necessary. Job Qualifications: Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Policy, Public Administration or Public health required. Formal training in performance management is required (Green Belt equivalent). At least 2 years experience supporting performance improvement activities, and analyzing and managing health care data, is required. Demonstrated experience with statistics, data analysis and evaluation is required. At least 3 years experience in an academic healthcare setting environment is desired. Experience in operations and data system access/analysis, and readiness to assume teaching/instructional responsibilities for Mount Sinai Medical Center colleagues required. Strong business foundation with proven analytical and problem-solving skills desired.
