Patient Care Unit Clerk
Job Purpose:
Â
Supports patient care delivery by providing clerical services in private medical practice setting for patient services.
Â
Duties:
Â
* Welcomes patients by greeting patients, in person or on the telephone; answering inquiries; relaying calls to staff; giving directions; referring inquiries to nursing and physician staff and physicians.
Â
* Helps patients by responding to requests; obtaining needed services from pharmacy, insurances companies, medical assistants, nurses, educators and physicians.
Â
* Pharmacology knowledge for prescription refills/prior authorizations.
Â
* Provides information by answering questions and requests.
Â
* Utilizes electronic medical record to document process.
Â
* Maintains unit operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.* Maintains patient confidence and protects practice operations by keeping information confidential.
Â
* Maintains unit supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
Â
* Keeps unit equipment operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; calling for repairs.
Â
* Conserves unit resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Â
* Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Adherence to OSHA and CLIA guidelines.
Â
* Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Â
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
