PLANT HEALTH NURES
Plant Occupational Health Nurse
Key Tasks: (Summary of typical duties and responsibilities of the job.)
Perform post-offer/pre-placement physicals, perform and/or coordinate respiratory physicals and fit testing, hearing tests, post accident, probable cause and random drug tests. Maintain medical files separate from workers comp files. Make data entry into employee computer files. Give professional medical advice on workers compensation (W/C) cases. Administer plant health-related policies and training programs. Work with Benefits department on methods to reduce healthcare costs. Work with medical directives to provide on-site nursing care for occupational injuries and illnesses and limited treatment and/or advice to assist employees with personal medical conditions. Assess the appropriateness and cost effectiveness of W/C healthcare providers. Communicate with local healthcare providers to explain employee job duties, restricted work available and expedite safe return to work. Provide first aid/CPR/AED/Blood Borne Pathogen training to first responders. Maintain accurate OSHA logs and supplemental records. Visit plant work locations frequently to be come acquainted with work done there, to verify that injured employees are working within restrictions, and evaluate working conditions for ergonomics and other health hazards. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements: (Minimum standards for job placement.)Graduate of a school of nursing accredited by a State Board of Nursing Examiners. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the states of employment. Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN-S) preferred. Experience in on-site occupational health nursing for a minimum of two years preferred. Ability to plan, organize, work independently, and manage multiple services and/or projects. Ability to physically visit plant work locations, climb ladders and stairs, and walk on slippery floors. Computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel software. Good written and oral communication skills. Bi-lingual a plus.
