Position Summary
We are presently seeking a Oracle DBA to manage all aspects of Oracle Database including architecture, design, programming, implementation, maintenance, and administration. You will also provide 24 X 7 support on large scale, mission-critical client/server applications and systems, as well as keep current on software package installation and updates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Build, install, configure, and maintain Oracle Databases in support of all development, QA, and business production/processing requirements.
· Work directly with project teams in support of the database requirements
· Perform installations, upgrades, and patches to Oracle systems.
· Frequently fine-tune and monitor systems to achieve optimum level of performance.
· Conduct routine audits of all Oracle systems for compliance with established standard, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures.
· Document configurations and maintain such documentation.
Required Qualifications (education and experiences)
· At least 3 years experience with Oracle, especially 8i and 9i
· 3 years experience data modeling and physical database layout experience
·3 years experience programming in PL/SQL
· Experience with Oracle Replication/DataGuard
· 2 + years experience with Veritas DB, QIO, NetBackup
· 3 + years experience with SQL statements and reporting best practices
· Solid Oracle administration skills including: database maintenance, backup, disaster planning and recovery, monitoring and tuning and RMAN
· Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using command line tools as well as GUI tolls
· Extensive knowledge of Oracle and Veritas products is a must
· Must have a strong emphasis on database availability and 24X7 support
· Excellent communication skills, team focus, and good business judgment
· Knowledge of Oracle Financials a plus
· Knowledge of telecom or related industries a plus
· Knowledge of Change Management best practices
· Working knowledge of best practices for enterprise-level client/server infrastructure
· Bachelor’s Degree in computer Science or equivalent program
· Experience with either AIX, Sun Solaris, Unix, Linux, or Windows Server 2000/2003
· Oracle Training in Disaster Planning, SSQL Tuning, Application Clustering, Advanced Replication, Data warehousing a plus
