Occupational Therapist - NICU - 001FT
Phoenix Childrens Hospital is the only specialty childrens hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the states largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. In addition, the hospital continues to evolve its clinical practices and is working with leading local and national research partners to uncover new breakthroughs in pediatric medicine. Currently a 299 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled in October 2006 that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years. This position is working in our level three NICU. Position Summary This position is responsible for providing occupational therapy services to a pediatric population, neonate to adolescent, including evaluation and treatment in independent living, sensory-motor integration, cognitive and psychosocial skill. Work Environment Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds, push, pull, squat, walk, reach, and crawl. Must be able to problem solve, reason, and teach others. Must communicate clearly in English. Requires the ability to speak, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties of the job. Effective and positive human relations skills are required, including confidentiality, in order to appropriately interface with all levels of Phoenix Children's Hospital staff, physicians, patients, their families and other contacts. Qualifications 1. Requires graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy curriculum and certification with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board (AOTCB) with state of Arizona licensure. 2. Previous staff level experience preferred. 3. Must be physically capable of performing all occupational therapy procedures.4. Effective human relation skills are required for interfacing with patients, families and other disciplines within the hospital and community. 5. Must demonstrate values consistent with those identified as PCH core values.
