OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST or ASSISTANT/PEDIATRICS
Description:The Occupational Therapist in Pediatrics is a therapist who demonstrates clinical expertise in the area of pediatric disorders. The clinical practice position requires an understanding of pediatric occupational therapy clinical care, research principles, and treatment techniques. The Occupational Therapist's responsibilities include assessment, planning, treatment, and ongoing evaluation of the provision of care for a diverse pediatric patient population. The Occupational Therapist provides patient and family education and support. The scope of pediatric occupational therapy services for patients and families includes all phases of care including prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and education/caregiver training. The Occupational Therapist works effectively on multidisciplinary teams and may be responsible for the supervision of department volunteers and clinical graduate students. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for service and operational excellence of all assigned department activities to ensure the delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet or exceed the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the department. The Occupational Therapist maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in PI activities. The role requires critical thinking, collaboration and excellent communication skills. The Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the NSMC are incorporated into all areas of practice.Academic year school-based position. 35 hours/week over 3-4 days. Travel required.Qualifications:SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.Demonstrated excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving skills and ability to make independent decisions.Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with patients and families from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1 to 2 year of pediatric experience is preferred.EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university. Master's Degree preferred.List all LICENSE, CERTIFICATION and/or REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).Current certification in CPR.Salary/Benefits: Salary commensurate with experienceYour decision to join an organization is based on many considerations.
