OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST II - REHAB SERVICES
$27.73 - $43.54 hourly $2,218.46 - $3,483.35 biweekly $4,806.67 - $7,547.26 monthly $57,680.06 - $90,567.15 annually The Riverside County Regional Medical Center, Rehabilitative Services Department seeks qualified candidates. Under general supervision, and according to physician referral, plan and administer occupational therapy treatments, adaptation of environments, using graded tasks and activities for the purpose of aiding the patient's physical, mental, developmental, cognitive and emotional rehabilitation; to test and evaluate the patient's ability to do the daily activities and other work that is important to them. This is the fully qualified working level class of the Occupational Therapist series. It involves assignments requiring greater understanding of departmental policies and more extensive technical knowledge that those normally given an Occupational Therapist I. Incumbents are expected to work independently and to administer varied occupational therapy treatments and evaluations to physically ill and/or psychiatrically ill patients with a minimum of supervision. Examples Of Duties: * Plans and administers therapy treatments directed toward increasing the range of motion, muscle strength, and assisting coordination of movements. * Assesses mentally and physically impaired patients and provides physician with initial functional assessments, specialized test results, and daily progress notes and discharge notes, as well as verbal reports through interdisciplinary conferences; functional assessments to determine patient's functional independence. * Works as a member of the interdisciplinary rehab team; medical record review to provide comprehensive assessment. * Educates patient and family to home exercises, self care and daily living activities, design, fabrication and application of splints and orthotic devices, emphasize muscle reeducation involving reach, grasp, release, opposition, coordination, relaxation and balance; adapts games, arts and crafts, housekeeping tasks, and other activities as therapeutic exercise; plans and supervises group activities. * Sets long and short term goals for treatment in conjunction with physician and patient, attends interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings, maintains age specific competency, recommends and dispenses adaptive equipment, completes Medicare and Medi-Cal documentation. * Provides clinical instruction to occupational therapy students; trains aides and volunteers to assist with department routine, orders supplies, other duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications: Experience: One year of supervised experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist. License Requirement: Valid and current Occupational Therapist license issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy Knowledge of: Therapeutic techniques, activities, and equipment used in occupational therapy work; the theory of mental and physical rehabilitation underlying the practices of occupational therapy; the skeletal anatomy, kinesiology, neurology and the objectives of occupational therapy assessment and treatment; human development, current treatment protocols for common diagnoses. Ability to: Plan organize and conduct an occupational therapy treatment program; apply occupational therapy techniques in observing, testing, and evaluating patients; deal effectively with patients and their families with diseases, disorders, physical and mental impairments, activity limitations, participation restrictions, maintain required documentation in the medical record and complete appropriate Medicare and Medi-Cal authorizations.
