Nurse Practitioner (H50015)

POSITION 
SUMMARY:

Provides independent hospital based primary care in the Mother and Baby Unit and the Newborn Clinic located adjacent to the unit. The Nurse Practitioners will care for newborns admitted to the unit in a couplet care model and care for newborns returning to the outpatient Newborn Clinic for specified follow-up of newborn problems. Provides consultation and advice to others as a highly-specialized practitioner.



MINIMUM 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing with 6 months to 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

State of New Mexico Certified Nurse Practitioner OR certification pending, as documented by temporary certificate.

PREFERRED 
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience: caring for newborns-inpatient/outpatient working in a teaching hospital/University system with complex social issues for mothers and babies such as maternal alcohol and drug use, domestic violence, mental illness and teen parents with supporting breastfeeding Familiarity with electronic medical records Fluent in the Spanish language Available to work weekends



CONDITIONS OF 
EMPLOYMENT: Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check. Must be credentialed per UNM HSC policies and procedures, if billing for services under Medicare/Medicaid. CPR CertifiedMust pass a pre-employment criminal background check.Candidates for this position must be eligible for employment as verified by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA); those individuals on the OIG/GSA Exclusion Lists will not be considered for hire.
